Hi all

before I go to my local dealer tomorrow, thought I'd ask some Q's here. I was driving back home from my work, about 10min drive, and when I went for a hard acceleration there was a distinctive noise from underneath. It only happens on a hard acceleration; smooth accelerations dont cause the noise. It sounds like something is vibrating due to the strong increase of force. Car drives fine all other times. Ive tried it in sport, sport+, and normal modes and the noise will appear under the same conditions.

I have it tuned under MHD. I even flashed it back to stock, and drove it; same issue. So I just re-flashed to stage 1. I have an MST intake, and forge charge pipe fitted to it, but no other mods that affect the power side of things.

I bought the car last Nov, where it was a 1 owner with 8300 on it; and now it sits just over 12000. So I've put less than 4000 on it.

I'm wondering if it could be drivetrain issues somewhere.

Any Help is appreciated

when? define hard acceleration: from what gear, what rpm, noises only for a little while or throughout the entire pull?

because this car is known for throttle hesitation issues (even in sport) and vibrations/mechanical grinding noises when trying to accelerate in 8th

if this is not among your issue, i 100% suggest removing anything aftermarket before visiting the dealership-- they love pointing fingers

Thanks for the reply

Check the 3 threads you linked; 1st 2 are out; nothing like that. 3rd is more likely but still, only just started doing this

Revs are low; so either from cruising and dropping down gears to accelerate; or pulling away. It will happen on revs 1k upto 3k. By the time it reaches 3k its changing gears.

This only started on the recent journey; so never had it before. Parts have been on a while with no issues. They may point fingers, but they can stay on. Would probably flash it back to stock though.

Revs are low; so either from cruising
this part is normal, common to us

and dropping down gears to accelerate;
i haven't heard of someone experiencing something like this when also dropping gears.. so may be a bigger issue here. sounds like bad transmission mounts? but on an 8k mile car is disappointing

or pulling away. It will happen on revs 1k upto 3k.

This only started on the recent journey; so never had it before.
^^ see in bold.
definitely go tomorrow!

Used to the revs being low; no issue with that. Hopefully not too serious; and covered under warranty as I bought it from a Toyota Network dealer, but not my local one.

Not a great time as my other car (FK2 Type R) is having some issue, but at least thats at 85k

So, an update to the issue. In the end it was a simple thing with an easy fix. I had a forge charge pipe installed in February, and the silicone hose had come off/loose. Once re-attached, the car is fine.

Thanks for the update, glad it was ok - so frustrating though to see many threads around with potential concerns about the car, and most times it turns out it's just some shit aftermarket part(s) and / or shit aftermarket installers / shit tuning *SMH*
