yeah, as far as a true mkiv successor the LF-A was much closer than the mkv will ever be...

that said, the LC-F will be even closer when released due to several elements (price and forced induction for example).

Love the LC, but its just too damn big and heavy. Its Aston Martin Vantage sized. I was all, this is the new SC!!! Why aren't you building the new Supra off of this?? Then I saw one in person and was like, oh, its fucking tank. Beautiful tank, but way too big to ever build a proper Supra out of. They need to make a new IS platform to share with the Supra now. All of their other lines have gotten too porky to share a platform with a real sports car.

I actually have zero problem with the mk5 being based on a roadster platform, shrinking several inches and loosing the back seat. Sure, that doesn't fall inline (ha!) with the standard Supra formula, but its PERFECTLY in line with the Supras grandfather, the 2000GT.

I would agree personally, but at the same time the R35 GTR is over 3800lbs, so weight isn't necessarily a big deal if you have the power and computers to control it. the LC-F will be quite a bit lighter as well.

Everything is heavier, which is why the mkv is such an awesome piece of engineering IMO.

Very true about the GT-R...when it first came out many laughed at the weight...then the laughter stopped and jaws dropped as they saw what the car can do....it is has increased substantially in price from 2009, but was sweet when it was killing Porsches and a few others back then...

Thats different. AWD (and computers) is the magic tech to convert ridiculous power into apex shredding g forces. If you have insane traction at all 4 corners, you can hide the pork better, even use it to your advantage at times. RWD cars on the other hand loose their nimble, tossable feeling and lateral grip when the pounds get too much.

Nobody wants an AWD Supra. Going smaller and lighter is a much better idea for the Supra. And I wouldn't consider the mk4 light. I know they made MASSIVE gains in shedding weight over the beefcake mk3, but it was still not what I would call a light car. Though there is a large amount of weight in a couple odd places that is easy to fix (exhaust, seats, battery, turbo setup).

Hide the pork...that's funny...as A70 said if you have the power and computers to control it...The GT-R is a great example of taking a different approach in delivering a performance street car by not using a engine with 500+ hp...now dare I say it? Look at Tesla...if you have not been for a drive in one it has amazing 0-60 acceleration and its Not for petrol car guys....but it is killing Hellcats and others.....Agree no body wants an AWD supra...

I always look back at this picture and think, "the LFA was in fact the modern rendition of the Supra." The same top engineers who developed all their previous halo cars joined together to build perfection. I wish this was the Supra, and that V10 was a modernized bullet proof TT straight six.

That scale model looks an awful lot like a MKIV Supra.
What would be awesome is if Toyota decides, ah, fuck it, let's dump the LFA engine in the mkv supra, make it 100k.

Game, set and match

I know these aren't real, but from a video game (GTsport) but it gives us the cleaner look of the car concept from gevenva without all the decals and with different colors.

I just hope that toyota will release a more hardcore grmn version with wider fenders and a fixed wing like the concept except a bit more conservative of course.

Either way, expect this car to have full aftermarket support just like FRS/GT86/BRZ does with widebody styles and performance kits.

Notice the trend in greatness with Toyota cars? What did they (2000GT, Supra, LFA) all have in common? Yamaha! Get Yamaha back in the formula and I promise you the MKV Supra will succeed! If Toyota relies heavily on BMWā€™s hardware alone, itā€™s gonna be a tough pill to swallow.

Doesn't have to be AWD at all, as demonstrated by the ZL1 and GT350 amongst others... also, the mk3 isn't as heavy as some think, my pre89 turbo/targa weighed 3540 stock and I easily cut 250lbs off that through weight reduction. the mkiv was about 120lbs lighter for reference... that said, the 89+ mk3 put on some weight in comparison (several have weighed in 3600+).

Toyota...

I want a manual transmission. Please make this car a manual transmission car not for me alone but for the whole community.

Make this car attractive to the die hard tuners and pure driving feel lovers.

How can I justify selling a manual NSX for an automatic Supra.

I can't.
Now just think of how many other people are in the same boat.

" a puzzle missing just one piece, is still incomplete."

Complete the puzzle, Toyota you've nailed it on Styling. Only Manual and Good Performance left for a perfect puzzle.
Spot on.

How can I sell my S2000 with a nearly perfect manual transmission for an AUTO supra... not happening.

Me personally, I'd rather have a 240hp 4cy manual supra than a 450hp AUTO supra... but that's just me.
