Sub firing direction

If I were to build a custom sub enclosure, which direction should I place the sub? Forward facing towards the cabin or rear facing towards the back of the car? And let's not forget about the ports. Forward or rear facing?
Pros and cons for each direction. Personal experience, etc. etc.

I’ve done 2 iterations now. A single GB10 in the trunk corner. Ported.
And 2 Raven 12s sealed pointing backwards

The ported held its own but a little sloppy at times. The winner is the 12s location. Which is basically the original sub location
