Hey guys,

As the title states, I am noticing a very faint burning smell. Initially, I thought it was just excess brake dust being burnt off, however I thoroughly cleaned my wheels and still notice the smell during and after driving. I let the car idle for 10-15 mins and did not notice anything.

It appears to be coming from the front wheels and not the engine bay, which makes me believe I may just need new brake pads but there have been no other issues and the pads look to have some life left. The car has 35k miles.

Just looking to hear your guys thoughts. Thanks!

What kind of burning smell? Oil, gas, rubber, electrical?

I had a slight burning smell from inside the car, turned out to be the starter going out. I dont think I could smell it outside of the car though

Smell right after startup, under high speed, hard braking or all the time? Can you pinpoint when

I only notice the smell during and after driving. The smell does appear to be stronger after harder driving but is noticeable after any drive. I’ve let the car idle for 10-15 mins and did not notice anything.

I’m pretty sure I’ve found the issue. I noticed this tar looking stuff on my exhaust. After looking into it, it appears to be a melted plastic bag that got caught.

kind of embarrassing but relieved lol
