My whole car is covered in ppf and I’d like to do the windshield (ppf type coverage) for added long term protection (small chips and marks from debris overtime - aka peppered look). But damn the estimate was costly!

I know this protects against dings and chips, but in my state, all forward-facing glass is covered by insurance for "free." It has to be a big chip for them to replace is as opposed to a crack, which is automatic, but you may want to check your insurance policy to see if you have something similar.

What brand is it? I talked to my detailer a few days ago about windshield PPF and they told me it (STEK Windshield PPF) can cause issues down the road with rainbowing or weird light reflections when driving at night based on what customers and installers have told them.

I had ExoShield installed. I'm happy with it so far. No issues. For me I would just rather not deal with the whole inconvenience of a replacement (possibly more down time than the ExoShield install, worry about if the replacement is good, HUD calibration, etc...)

Sadly ppf is so expensive that replacing body panels are sometimes less expensive. Windshield is the same

I had 'ClearPlex' installed on mine and it's been great. It was installed about 3 months without any issues. Some complain of distortion but I have zero experience with the ClearPlex product doing such. The cost was much less than the original quote. Paid $450.

Additionally my front windshield is tinted with 50% film.

A must have for me with all the damn dump trucks full of rocks and uncovered loads.

See the discussion video below with the installation company on my car.

Hmm. I asked my ppf installer about doing the windshield and he recommended not doing it as with time the windshield wipers will eventually mess it up.

I know it’s not a lifetime of miles but I went on a 1500 mile road trip with a ton of heavy rain and therefore lots of wiper usage. Never had an issue.
