If anything rev matching should help preserve the clutch. It operates perfectly.

Cars have been running without that nanny for a long time without clutch problems. I think its just an additional point of failure that adds complexity for the sole benefit of the lazy and those who can't actually drive.

I'll be turning that shit off before I drive off the lot.

So I ran most of the day with it off yesterday (full disclosure I use it a lot) and I’m pretty convinced the way the throttle was tuned and everything centered around rev matching was done to make it harder to rev match, I actually think this is one of the more difficult cars to rev match as it feels very slow to accelerate, like a car with a super heavy fly wheel. I have no issues rev matching my other cars but this one doesn’t seem to like it as much.

On the other hand, cars have been blowing up clutches for a long time without that nanny per the pic posted a few pages back. Complexity doesn't mean unreliable. Autos have been doing it for decades as the whole point is to preserve the drivetrain.

For fun? Sure. But you'll never rev match as consistently and reliably as a computer.

Clutch delay valve + throttle by wire + floor mounted pedals all make it more difficult than older cars. You really have to stab the pedal to make it rev

I agree this car is harder to heel/toe than my previous cars. I have to be very aggressive with the throttle. This mostly applies to casual driving since I’m not on the brakes hard and it’s a bit of a reach to get the throttle in that far fast enough with light braking. Double clutching is fine if you just stab the throttle.

I’ve been tempted to get that module that improves throttle response. I think that would fix the issue. The auto rev match works perfectly though so I use that a lot.

4 blown clutches on a91MT's in PR alone? Color me a little skeptical. How many a91MT's are there even on the island? Can't be many more than that.
I will post a pic from all of us together in a meet soon. I know there 7 in PR Burnout and a couple of the gray color

Any details on what’s actually failing? I’ve got a little over 3000 miles on mine so far and haven’t had any issues.
Clutch is gone dealing with toyota for approval of definitely trade this crappy clutch from Toyota including the car ASAP. 😂😂😂

$3,995 for a Clucth replacement is a great deal for dealers 😂😂😂💪

Those prices are mostly less than here in the lower 48 states. Here's the MSRP I'm seeing for up here.

31210-WAA01 $571.26
31400-WAA01 $153.57
13405-WAA01 $2,320.63 (flywheel assembly includes clutch disc FYI)
90118-WAA14 $1.15 x 6 = $6.90

And ten hours of labor in my neck of the woods would equal $1,590.00

So, parts, labor, and tax would total $4897.69

I haven't found this car any harder to rev match than any of my other manual transmission cars. I did turn the auto rev match off when I left the dealership after I bought it and have left it off since then, so very in tune with the car now.

I think the auto rev match would be more in tune for tracking. Also shutting rev match off will give you a better handle on the driving dynamics. Wondering if the MT Supra will need a Clutch Stop also.
