Race Tracking Your Supra - Information exchange

Good to know those temps are fine, I always thought a hot tire should be in the 125-150 range, good to hear I was in regular temps. Those of you running a super 200, what pressure are you aiming to run hot?

Never went, but I'm heading there for my first time on August 2nd. My home track is Circuit Mont Tremblant, alors 90 minutes from home.

You're going to love it. A beautiful track even if its unliked by many with it's tire shredder reputation...something in the asphalt is really really not kind on tires.

I really loved Trembant, ran it in 2020 with my C4S but unfortunately got booted in the afternoon for being too loud. Turn 1 is so good and the esses before the bridge.

My current setup wouldn't pass I think.

Most Super200's I have used like around 32-33psi hot.

Yeah I had a 2016 GT4 for 5 years and even with exhaust mods to keed the sound down I would get flagged once in a while for breaking sound limits...

I got tired of dealing with that, sold the GT4 and bought a Supra...

Most likely the first track day with the Supra will be at Calabogie. It does have a tire shredder reputation, but everybody I speak to love the layout.

After saying I didn't want to be a guinea pig...I'm going to be your guinea pig for the PFC-11 on the front of the car. I'm waiting on Bimmerworld to get back to me and confirm that they're in stock, but if they are, I'm getting a set.

They are expensive, but not CSG expensive. There is a large base of users in the Porsche and BMW track world (did some looking around on Rennlist and Bimmerforums yesterday). It's a newer compound, but it's still been out a few years.

I thought hard about the Hawk ER-1, as Tire Rack can have them on my doorstep on Monday. There's not a whole lot of feedback on them globally, and my experience with Hawk race pads on the street is very dusty, very loud. (That's with the ancient Blue compound and several sets of DTC-60s on my E36).

I asked KNS about the ER-1s when I was shopping pads for a different car awhile back. About the only thing they had to say was there was almost never a re-order on them. So there's that...


Has anyone tried Cobalt pads? I have the Essex AP kit on my C7Z and recently switched to Cobalt XR1/XR2 from Ferodo DS3.12 and absolutely LOVED them at VIR -- by far the best pad I've run in terms of feel and ability to handle heat, etc... The only downside is they wore very quickly, but so far they seem to be really easy on the rotors, so an equitable trade.

Well sh!t. Not surprisingly, there are no PFC-11s for the G29 chassis. Talked with Josh at Bimmerworld and he said that PFC makes runs of 20 sets of pads when they get enough orders, and there is no timeframe when they'll get to that threshold.

With the ER-1 feedback from @AHP (Ken at KNS is a good guy...done business with him before), I'll skip them.

The final option, and again...I think I'm doing the guinea pig thing again - Pagid RSL29. It's another enduro compound, they are near-CSG-priced, but Bimmerworld had 1 set left.

A friend ran them on his C8 this year - he loved the feel and the wear, but it wasn't quite enough pad for that car. I'm thinking the Supra (with me driving) will be goldilocks and be just about right.

@Rob_SER , I have the CSG-11 compound on the back of the car. They have plenty of life left, so I'm hoping the brake balance is still good with the a lower mu pad like the RSL29

Sucks about the PFC11, that was the feedback I received from local shops as well, PFC would only make the pads for a big volume customer...

Talked with numerous M2/M3 guys running RSL29 this summer, all very happy.

Friday was a good track day.

It was a hot day but my tires got unbelievably hot @ 158F...recorded by the car.

Not sure if it's a RT660 thing or a combination of the heat that day.

It shows temps on the same screen it shows PSI. Comes this way from the factory.

You lost me at c8 and “feel”, the electronic braking and lack of feel is the biggest complaint tracking owners have told me

I’ll get in touch with my contacts and find out. 999’s are a great pad, I’ve ran the H16-03 from their racing series and those are amazing.
